Get trained to perform venipuncture, and capillary puncture and provides instruction in the correct methods for transporting, handling and processing of blood specimens for laboratory analysis.  The program includes medical terminology, infection control, safety, basic anatomy and physiology, quality assurance and medical-legal issues related to phlebotomy.  Students must successfully complete 40 hours of in-class coursework before advancing to 40 hours of supervised clinical training.  Students who successfully complete the Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Program (CPT1) will be eligible to sit for the NHA exam.  According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 24 percent through 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers and other locations will need phlebotomists to perform bloodwork. *  -Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook
You must have a full 40 hr week daytime hours available.  Does not include state exam.  Must have High School diploma or equivalent prior to class.

There is also a $100 License fee that is payable to the State of CA when applying for state license
